BlackBerry App World Doesn’t Work In Pakistan – Should I throw My BB Handset?

Though I might not be the first one to protest against BlackBerry because in countries like Pakistan BlackBerry App World doesn’t work , yet I wish this piece of writing can compel RIM / BlackBerry to enable App World here. There are a lot of users who buy BlackBerry phones just for the services.Even many folks around me bought BlackBerry phones and then after a while just went crazy saying – App World doesn’t work here, this phone should be thrown now.

Check out following thread originally posted on a BlackBerry support forum which I found really interesting and quite useful to post here. For some reason I’ve not mentioned the names of both forum posters.

1.In these days and times when everybody is connected, iPhone, Blackberry, iPad and very soon Playbook, I find quite strange for a company that is supposedly the world number one in people connected devices to LIMIT access to their App store because a country is not allowed. We’re somehow 20 years back when the iron curtain was still up.

How can a company like RIM is still limiting access to their App store when everybody else (Apple) is offering unlimited access to theirs. Apple soon found out that if they want to be the best, they have to offer universal access to everything.

RIM is not interested in our needs and business ! I can buy a Blackberry device but not download apps from their store if I do not live in one of their supported country… Strange and utterly stupid. Worst, France is listed but NOT french territories. Maybe RIM should hire a geo specialist so that they learn that a french territory is part of France, WOW ! Yeah sure there are legal requirements, bull ! How did Apple do it?

RIM does not want our business or is it that RIM is just a slow timer… Come on wake up !

Oh don’t be silly. Your service providers IN those countries MUST first agree to support AppWorld. You need to call your carrier to encourage them to sign agreements to support AppWorld. That’s the roadblock.

Oh come on, open your eyes ! There you go again saying that it is a carrier problem…Never RIM’s fault.

Look around you even Android market is accessible everywhere.

Blackberry smartphones are used all over the world !

Carriers are not the problem, just read the forums and you’ll see that I am not the only one that have an access issue. Wether BIS or WIFI, access to AppWorld is compromised in a lot of countries. Explain then why iPhones and iPads have complete access to their app store whatever the country they are in and that’s using WIFI or Data ! Now don’t tell me that’s because they have signed a carrier agreement, dito for Android phones.

RIM’s marketing strategies are all wrong and backward ! Get rid of those people that cannot see what’s ahead and do not recognize that there’s a big problem with AppWorld.

All three use different business models for the their Apps Store. RIM relies on the service provider for AppWorld support. Whether you believe it or not, or like or not is irrelevant, that’s the way it is.

Meanwhile, there are other places you can purchase applicatons and in most cases the exact same applications you find in AppWorld.

So, if you’re just here to complain, you’ve done that. If you want to look for apps, then visit one of the other options like blackberryapps.com, or handango.com

Apple Wants To Own ‘App Store’ As Trademark – Microsoft Strongly Opposes.

App Store is a keyword often used in press releases of different companies such as Google, RIM, Apple, Microsoft, Nokia, and Samsung. Apple is continuously trying to trademark this keyword – sounds controversial after reading the first statement though.

Above image clearly stats that more than 5 companies use this keyword in their press descriptions and use this term as their online store where they sell mobile applications.

Microsoft is strongly opposing Apple’s such efforts while declaring it too generic to register and can really restrict competitors’ abilities to use this term while describing their services. App refers to mobile software while store depicts as a place where goods are sold, hence it becomes a very generic term, Microsoft says.

What we personally believe is that such generic terms can not be registered / owned by a company.

Asus Reveals Technical Details Of Eee Slate EP121 Windows 7 Tablet PC

As tablets are on their boom, companies are focusing on both qualitative and quantitative tablet production. Asus is also one of tablet producers who previously at the Computex 2010 told about its upcoming tablet named Eee Pad EP121. CMYK Electro-Eraser Recycles Paper By Erasing Printed Words

Time has quite changed now, all traditional things are either vanishing or updated in a modern way. Just take the example of shredding papers – all documents which needed to be wasted, were used to shred using shredding machines. Astonishingly you need not to shred them now, rather use CMYK Electro-Eraser machine that erases printed words on the paper.First watch following images to have a more detailed view of the product.

Take a peek at this, paper shredder that doesn’t shred – this is the electromagnetic erasing system. The idea for this project came to the designer from observing the destructive effect of electromagnetic radiation on color pigments. Scary! This project aims directly at utilizing electromagnetic radiation in a fully controlled reaction inside a machine to break all bonds of color pigments that absorb only a particular range of the electromagnetic spectrum. What’s that mean? Maybe… reusable paper?

The designer notes that the only way this system would work would be to have those CMYK pigments that would be utilized in a way that their absorption band is different from the paper they’re printed on. This process would be similar to photochromic or thermochromic materials in that color pigments start to decompose into colorless products – HOWEVER, also as the designer notes, this process would be different from photochromic change in that electro erasing would be an irreversible reaction. Hardcore!

We hope it comes on a cheaper rate in market soon.

As we previously told you that Google Demo Slam videos are felt no more entertainments by the readers, recently Google posted a new video about Google Apps adventures in which it shows that Google Videos are full of entertainment and still Google has much to share which for sure will be admired.

No doubt it is success that a lot of people using traditional applications are moving towards Google Apps. This is what Google’s YouTube channel describes this video.

In 2009, Trafﬁc began working with Norwegian polar explorer Børge Ousland to support an expedition planned for Summer 2010. His goal was to be the ﬁrst to sail through both Passages of the North Pole in a single voyage, and the ﬁrst to circumnavigate the Arctic in a single season. A feat explorers have tried and failed to do for 500 years.

Behind the scenes, they used Google Apps as their project hub — creating a 24/7 connection between Traffic, the expedition and media partners and sponsors around the world. They worked on pre-production planning in real-time with Docs, updated and shared schedules via Calendar, and the whole team could get a snapshot of the latest content and news via their Google Site. Gmail was the email backbone of the project. Using Google Apps saved an incredible amount of time, and because everything was in the cloud, everyone had access on the ﬂy. Even from the Arctic.

I really feel positive while declaring this Google posted video as my most favorite videos among all the Google YouTube channel videos till now.

DiskAlarm Lets You View HDD Temprature And Receive Alarm Alerts

DiskAlarm is a portable and lightweight application that lets you view HDD (Hard Disk Drive)’s current temperature and alarms you in case if temperature exceeds from the given value. It works in real time, as temperature keeps changing, it keeps updating you live. On launch, it asks for setting the temperature value, which once selected can also be edited at later time. You can select the temperature in any of the formats – Celsius and Fahrenheit. In case hard drive’s current temperature exceeds from the set value, it gives sounds and visual warning.

You can also set your own audio sound which will be played as an alarm. Hit Options button available on the GUI to expand the window containing different setting options.

Log files are automatically maintained containing all necessary information. Run time updates telling hard drive temperature change after each 30 seconds along with other DiskAlarm events are saved in log files which can be viewed through Log tab. Just a small note, it requires .NET framework 2.0 installed in your system.

According to developer of this tool, it works on all version of Windows, but I found this error while running in on Windows 7 32bit OS. Furthermore it didn’t work properly for me. Share your experience if it worked at your machine running on Windows 7.
